Diethylhomospermine had been in phase II clinical trials by SunPharm (merged into GelTex in 1999, then acquired by Genzyme in 2000, now a subsidiary of Sanofi) for the treatment of AIDS-related chronic diarrhea. However, this research has been discontinued.
